Custom Catwalk and Stairs Built to Support New Robotics
Belden Brick needed more than materials to support a new robotic material handling system. The equipment was sourced overseas, but the infrastructure required to support it had to be designed, fabricated, and built locally. Ferra was brought in as a single partner to manage the full scope of work.
The project included the design and fabrication of a multi-level catwalk and stairway system engineered to integrate seamlessly with the new automation. Work began on site with detailed field measurements, followed by CAD design to ensure accuracy and alignment with the robotic equipment. From there, every component was laser cut, formed, welded, and powder coated before being delivered ready for installation.
By sourcing steel locally, Belden Brick avoided excessive freight costs and gained flexibility throughout the build. Just as important, having one team responsible from design through delivery reduced coordination issues and kept the project on schedule.
Project management played a critical role. Our team worked closely with both Belden Brick and the robotic system supplier to ensure timelines, tolerances, and installation requirements stayed aligned.
This project highlights the difference between supplying parts and serving as a true fabrication partner—one capable of managing complexity, precision, and timing from start to finish.
