Ferra partnered with Brandywine Grove on The Valen, a residential build that blends refined architecture with deliberate industrial details. The project included multiple custom steel elements designed to complement the home’s modern form while meeting functional and code requirements.
Key features included powder-coated interior exposed beams, fabricated to remain visible rather than concealed. Unlike typical structural beams that are hidden behind finishes, these were sandblasted and powder coated to achieve a clean, black industrial look that contrasts with surrounding materials and reinforces the home’s architectural character.
Custom rail systems were fabricated and installed throughout the project, shaped to follow the flow of the staircases while remaining compliant with building codes. A cable rail system marks the entrance to the underground bunker, providing safety without obstructing sightlines.
A custom metal entry gate was fabricated as a one-way, exit-only door designed specifically to keep wildlife out of the bunker space. The gate was built to suit the unique function of the structure while maintaining visual consistency with the rest of the home.
Throughout the project, Ferra worked closely with the Brandywine Grove team to ensure each fabricated element aligned with the design intent and construction requirements, delivering steelwork that was both purposeful and visually integrated.
